Tiffany

Tiffany Liu is a first-year student from central Florida. Growing up in a majority-white community with Chinese immigrant parents, Tiffany was determined to study medicine in a diverse area like the Bronx, where she could serve patients from all backgrounds. While her parents encouraged her to consider pursuing plastic surgery, which would allow her to apply her artistic skills to medicine, her first year of medical school opened her eyes to the social side of medicine, including Family Medicine and women’s health. At Einstein, Tiffany is involved with the Asian Pacific American Medical Student Association, volunteers at the student-run Einstein Community Health Outreach (ECHO) Free Clinic, and freelances as a photographer. She is working on becoming fluent in medical Mandarin and medical Spanish to help overcome language barriers that can affect the quality of care. Over the course of her first year, Tiffany learns to confront the academic and emotional challenges of medical school, explore the need for advocacy in medicine, and form lasting relationships with her peers and mentors.
