"I think it's a privilege to be a doctor and I think it's even more a privilege to be a Black doctor."

Andrew

Andrew Peck is a Haitian-American first-year medical student from Queens, New York. As a teen, Andrew was a primary caretaker for his ailing grandfather, which taught him the value of compassion and transparency for patients and their families and influenced his decision to attend medical school. Guided by close mentors along his journey in medicine and aware of the scarcity of Black male physicians in the United States, Andrew hopes to mentor aspiring physicians from underrepresented backgrounds. He is involved in numerous organizations aimed at diversifying medicine and addressing the needs of underserved communities. His long-term goal is to provide compassionate and culturally competent care to patients in need, and, for now, his specialties of interest include anesthesiology and physical medicine and rehabilitation. During his first year at Albert Einstein School of Medicine, Andrew engages in his first anatomy lab with a human cadaver, provides care to a gunshot wound victim, and grapples with the loss of his closest mentor.
